The Notre Dame Vocation fund supports the work of encouraging women to discern whether they have a call to religious life. A Notre Dame Sister works full-time as Vocation Minister. This involves giving up a paying salary so that she can travel to high school and college campuses, participate in retreats for young people, speak to interested groups of young people and orchestrate ongoing prayer or social groups. TheVocation Minister hosts open houses, liturgies, brunches and other discovery times at the Notre Dame Motherhouse so that young people can investigate religious life. It is also the calling of the Vocation Minister to encourage all the Sisters to invite young women to become familiar with religious life, and to publicize the nature of religious and community life and the Notre Dame Charism in today's world. When a woman has discerned a call to the Notre Dame community and has become a candidate, she needs further education in theology and topics important to service in the Catholic Church and the Notre Dame community. Educational expenses continue during the time that the woman is a novice, or new Sister. At this time a Formation Director, another full-time non-salaried job for a Sister, works to help the novice and the community become better acquainted and form a supportive and prayerful relationship. Your gift can help discover and affirm vocations to religious life by supporting the Notre Dame vocation fund. |
