An endowment is an amount that is invested so that it returns interest. The Sisters do not use the endowment money, but periodically receive the interest income from the endowment to use. The endowment that has been established for the Notre Dame Sisters is specifically for the benefit of the health and care of the Sisters, especially the retired Sisters.
